Hi Patrick,
According to the IGI there are 6 William Puttocks born is Sussex around 1733. One is actually 1733 in Stopham. This is the link
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=500157297135&lds=1®ion=2®ionfriendly=British+Isles&frompage=99
I also have the Marriage link here are at http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=100462567697&lds=1®ion=2®ionfriendly=British+Isles&frompage=99
It still does not make it absolute of course and Samuel and Mary may yet be right.
Still looking
Barry

Barry,
The more I think about William's parentage (and I haven't given it any thought for some while) I think you may well have a point when you dismiss Samuel and Mary(?) as Williams parents. William has never shown up as their son although the other children come up on the Mormon website. For a time I thought he was born in Lambeth (Can't remember where that idea originated.)
To be honest I have never been really convinced about Samuel.
Not yet convinced about your theory yet, but I too, will do more research.

Patrick

Hi Patrick
Good to hear from you!
As you may have gathered my Mother was also a Puttock so it is good to be in touch
Now William's parentage is a bit of a thing as there are two schools of thought here. One is as I have it noted within and the other is as you suggest below. You may well be right in this regard as you seem to also know that he was a Schoolmaster. That is more than I knew!
I will do some more research into this and let you know If i find anything.
Many thanks
Barry

Dear Barry,
I stumbled upon your website quite by accident. I must congratulate you on the way you have designed and created it. Well done indeed.
My particular interest is in the Puttock side of the family.
I too am descended from William Puttock who was Schoolmaster in Billingshurst for many years. I come down through his son Philip, his grandson George and his great grandson Henry Puttock.
William's parents are not easy to find but I have always thought Samuel Puttock and Mary were his parents. You obviously think differently?
It is interesting to know that I have more undiscovered relatives out there.
I wold love to hear from you.
With kind regards
Patrick Puttock

Hi Brett

Hi Wendy
Many thanks for that. You certainly did send it and it has been entered into the main database. However what is on this site does not have any information on living people. I do need to think of a way around that. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful. Perhaps I could obtain the persons permission for the entry to be shown. Many thanks again! Barry

Many thanks for your Feedback and subsequent information, it is much appreciated. I will update by database with the new details as soon as possible.

Many thanks again. Barry

You have your Alcock family slightly tangled: William Alcock (1797) married Rebecca Cannon (1793) at Waddesdon on 9 June 1817 (source: Parish Register image).

Fanny Alcock (1802) was a SISTER of William Alcock (1797).

She married William Burton in 1819 and they had 17 children.

Their second child was Rebecca (12 Aug 1820). As you say, she married Thomas Alcock (1818), the son of William Alcock (1797). He, of course, was her first cousin. This confused me too for a long time!

I can give you more details about all this if you would like to give me your email address. Mine is:

davidradford@talk21.com

Best wishes, David Radford

Thank you very much for your feedback Robert. It would be nice to compare notes at some stage

Barry

I have been researching the Cannon Family for several years and I am directly descended from Elizabeth Cannon (1787-1822) and William Biswell (1783-1853).I have found your site most interesting, having only dicovered it recently. It has enabled me to check my information with your research. It is always good to have confirmation or otherwise of my research, which now extends to 15 generations (1615-2010. Your site is very easy to follow, particularly for an 80 year old! Robert Cannon. U.K.
Hi Pat. Many thanks for your help. It has been most appreciated
